Roadworks in Macassar on the go

03 March 2025

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents and road users of roadworks along Macassar Road, between Sandvlei Road and the N2 bridge interchange in Macassar. The work is planned to take place from today, 3 March 2025 until Thursday, 17 April 2025 between 08:30 and 17:00, Monday to Friday, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays.

The details of the resurfacing and rehabilitation work in Macassar include:
•        The milling of existing roads and filling them with a new asphalt surfacing layer
•        The repair of isolated kerbs and channels
•        The removal and replacement of damaged guardrails
•        Removal of encroaching sand on sidewalks, as well as the relocation and reinstatement of
           traffic loops and magnometers

All road markings removed during the process will also be reinstated.

‘I would like to thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding while we are busy with this project. Regular road maintenance is required to ensure the longevity of the City’s road network and to keep Cape Town moving. The end result is good quality roads for all in Macassar. I ask that motorists and pedestrians exercise caution between Sandvlei Road and the N2 bridge interchange, and consider using alternative routes, wherever possible, until mid-April this year,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
